If the founders can’t align, how will the AEs?

I was an advisor to a startup. I spent a day with them, asking the team about some platform capabilities.

  • the CEO said, “Hell yeah we can do it”.

  • the CTO said, “I don’t know, ask the head of product”.

  • The head of product said “we could do it with 12 caveats.

  • The internal product capability matrix we just released said , “we can’t”.

Think back to this story whenever you get a sales rep who isn’t sure which way is up or down,
